Safranbolu is a sub-provincial centre in the north-western Black Sea region near Kastamonu, A charming city decorated with wooden mansions that attracted visitors for centuries. The "Saffron" flower, used in dyeing and also as a flavouring in cooking; as the city takes its name from this flower is still grown in the area.
